Introduction:
The University of Florida Research and Engineering Education Facility (UF-REEF) is pleased to announce a Workshop and Flight Competition for Micro Air Vehicles to be held on 1-5 June, 2009.The event will be held in Pensacola, FL.
The purpose of this informal workshop is to bring together developers and users of micro aerial vehicles to present work in progress, exchange ideas, and discuss challenges, thus promoting collaboration and teamwork.
Workshop
Workshop sessions are intended to bring developers and users together to discuss relevant issues in developing micro aerial vehicle systems. Potential topics include:
Aerodynamics (fixed, flapping and articulated wings )
Guidance and control
Vision-based on-board systems
Aero-structural interaction
Propulsion systems
Hovering/VTOL MAVs
System Architecture
Ground Station
Flight Testing Techniques
Fabrication Technology and Practice
Bio-inspired flight vehicle design and testing
Artificial Intelligence in Onboard Decision Making
The workshop is still being formulated and feedback on topics and format are requested. Emphasis will be placed on experimental technologies geared to enhance and push the current state on micro air vehicles and their associated systems.

Flight Competition The flight competition section of this event will consist of an indoor competition for flapping wing and rotary vehicles, an outdoor competition for rotary wing and fixed wing vehicles. Both the indoor and outdoor competitions will be made up of various individual judged challenges.
